Testimonials

"A few years ago, for national poetry month, Lexi posted raw drafts every day to her Instagram page. I reached out in response to one, praising the work, and her vulnerability in demystifying the writing process. We got chatting and she offered to give me feedback on a poem. This moment changed my writing life forever. She has since edited most of my published work, and I attribute all of my accolades to her mentorship, from having an obscure poem accepted into an outlier journal, to winning major awards from New Writing North, and The Disquiet Literary Programme. Lexi is not just an editor. She is a poet. She loves poetry, is obsessed with poetry. She draws on her incredible and ever-expanding knowledge to help me develop my voice, my vision. She is a gifted teacher who knows how to push me to write the absolute best word, line, stanza. It's the hardest and most rewarding part of our work together, that she is honest and tender enough to say, "you can write better than this." Because I might come away slightly wounded, my ego a little deflated, but I always, always, write something better. I trust her completely."

-Carson Wolfe

"I gain so much confidence when I read aloud a poem that Lexi has edited because I can hear how each word belongs, sound-wise and meaning-wise. That's the care and attention Lexi brings to a poem. A skilled crafter of metaphors, she consistently encourages me to think in fresher, deeper ways. Even if I feel stuck, her guidance and prompts push me to surprise myself. Thanks to working with Lexi, I've had poems place in literary contests and I'm inspired to continue developing my voice as a poet."

"I've had the pleasure to work with Lexi Pelle on four poems so far, and it's been an incredible experience. Her editing skills are superb! Thanks to Lexi, my work is more polished, and I feel so much more confident submitting my poetry to lit mags. Lexie is prompt with her responses, and her feedback is so supportive and enthusiastic I feel as if she's an omnipresent warm, soothing voice gently looking over my shoulder as I write. Lexi's editing expertise has helped me grow not only as a writer, but as a person. She's a true gem! I really can't say enough about how working with Lexie has been an absolute pleasure and that she will undoubtedly be a treasure in any poet's pocket who's looking to push their poetry to the next level."

-Tammy Smith

"If you have ever imagined working with an editor as if they were in the passenger seat, expertly guiding you toward a better place with your writing, then Lexi Pelle is the editor of your dreams. An accomplished poet whose work takes your breath away, she is here to teach as an editor. She has propelled me forward in the art of metaphor and figurative language a gift I use daily. My favorite teaching line from Lexi is: 'Now you just got to sprinkle in the capital T' truth. The poetic truth. The crowbar heart truth. The open-eyed animal smeared on the side of the road truth.' It worked. She encouraged me to submit recent poems that were published in Anti-Heroin Chic and The Quarter Press, literary journals I never thought were within my reach before working with her. Lexi celebrates a line that's working with such joyful enthusiasm that you get a hit of confidence and can keep going. Isn't that everything you want in an editor?"

-Susan Kolon

"Working with Lexi has been a deeply transformative and empowering experience. She provides thoughtful feedback with care, precision, and patience that honours my unique voice while helping me extract my most resonant truth. Her mastery of craft and gift of clear communication have elevated my work to unprecedented heights. My new poems are coming through so much stronger thanks to the arsenal Lexi has equipped me with. Having worked with many editors in the past, I can attest to the fact that Lexi is one of a kind in terms of how much skill, integrity, and heart she brings to the work. I feel beyond grateful to have her as my editor for my first manuscript. With her guidance, I've already had four poems published in journals such as Gnashing Teeth, SWWIM, and wildscape lit. Cannot recommend her enough!"
